WordPress 2.6 Almost Ready for Release

WordPress 2.5.1 is such a major version upgrade that I haven’t had the time to explore all its features yet, and now version 2.6 is almost ready for release. According to Ryan Boren, lead developer of WordPress, they are expecting for a mid-July release. The following are some of the new features of 2.6.

  • Post Revisioning
  • Faster Admin page loads
  • Improved image editing dialog
  • Theme previewing
  • Word counting in the post editor
  • Relocate your content directory
  • Move wp-config.php out of your web root
  • Drag-and-drop sortable galleries
  • Customizable default avatars
  • Bulk delete, activate, and deactivate for plugins
  • Lots of bug fixes and performance improvements
