If you'll try to access empressofdrac.wordpress.com you will be redirected to the domain name ONLY but not to my self hosted site. That is if you'll check empressofdrac.com you will be redirected to my old wordpress blog instead to my new self hosted blog.

Before I reset my Domain Name Severs to it's original settings I changed them to wordpress domain name servers(as what the redirection guide from blogwell said)(ns1.wordpress.com etc.). My site has been redirected well that time…

But it goes the other way when I reset my DNS setting. I just followed blog-well's instruction…I don't have any idea what to do now…

After making myself crazy for a few hours, I finally stepped away from the computer. I went back later, and lo and behold, everything was working perfectly. Absolutely perfectly.

I think it just took a few hours for the DNS servers to update. In the future I will remind myself that these things require some patience. :)

I think you missed one step! You should go back to WordPress.com wp-admin and under the Domains section of the dashboard, select “Put blog here” next to your new domain name. Please go back and review the document and make sure you perform all the steps.

I can’t get to the wordpress.org login screen. It’s redirecting me to my wordpress.com login. I can’t even begin to figure out what went wrong, but if I can’t get to the right wp-admin login, suddenly moving to godaddy seems kind of pointless.

However, you can quickly recover this as your subscribers are automatically redirected to your new site and new visitors come in. Old links will remain pointed to your old blog but anyone clicking on them will be redirected to your new one.

Yes, your old blog on WP.com will still be searchable in search engines. However, because of the auto redirect, people clicking on the old blog links from search results will see your new blog on your new domain (remember to adjust your Permalinks if necessary). WP.com ranks high in search engines because it is highly optimized and therefore blogs on it benefit too. Expect though that initially, your new blog will lose the traffic you’re normally getting from your old blog. Over time, around a month or so, search engines will start pointing to your new blog, provided you continue to create interesting posts and do your own site search engine optimization.
