Update: PwnageTool 2.0.1 Fixes Bugs

by Eric Pena on July 21, 2008

If you just woke up today and just found out that thousands have already upgraded their first generation iPhones to 2.0, you’re in luck because you can now have a much smoother upgrade of your iPhone 1.1.4.

The iPhone Dev Team has just released PwnageTool 2.0.1 a day after the much anticipated PwnageTool 2.0 came out. The following issues that many have experienced have been fixed:

  • It auto-finds the bl39 and bl46 files better, if they’re on your computer
  • It creates the ~/Library/iTunes/Device Support/ folder if not present, which should help with some 1600 errors people have been having.
  • Many people have reported the PwnageTool not starting up at all (the icon never stops bouncing). This issue should be resolved now.
  • The Sparkle AppCast URL is fixed in this version, so automatic updates should work for future releases.

Just follow my other Guide to use PwnageTool 2.0.1 and you will be on iPhone 2.0 with the rest of the early birds in no time.

Note: If you have used PwnageTool 2.0 and successfully upgraded your iPhone, you don’t have to use 2.0.1 again. But I suggest you still download it if you want to stay up to date automatically (Sparkle AppCast URL fix).
