Thanks, unfortunately this only seems to bring up those names fully saved and listed in my list of contacts. It doesn't bring up those names and details only partly saved that I was looking for.

I'm not a developer so please treat me like a technical moron. I have a fairly straightforward question and wonder if there's a straightforward answer – hopefully not “no”. I have saved a name and phone number on my iphone but then forgotten to click on “done”. The result is that I haven't got this information stored and it's a big loss for me as I have no other way to contact this person. Is this information retrievable in any way at all?

I also have a jailbroken 3gs iPhone, and it will not let me click on the “root folder” drop down. Any suggestions? I'm trying to recover my contacts before I accidentally restored the phone. Please comment here since it seems to be a common concern. Thanks!

i just backed up my iphone in itunes. but the prob is, the computer i'm using now is not it's home computer and as we all know, an ipod/iphone can be synced to only one computer. i want to download applications and whatnot but i can't sync without erasing my whole iphone.
by backing up, will i be able to recover the apps and music and photos? does it also recover hacked apps?

I don't think this works for my situation, but I'm praying it does – please help. What happens if I have put contacts ONLY on my iPhone, then I sync it with my address book on my iMac (which has no contacts in it) and it overrides and erases all my iPhone contacts. Is there a way to rollback or revert to a pre-sync status for my contacts? HELP!

Thanks so much. When I finally switched from 2.1 to 3, everything transferred but Notes. Since I slightly changed in iPhone user name (omitted ” 's iPhone”), iPhone Backup Extractor showed two Application Names. The older one contained only “iPhone OS Files,” which contained my last backup before upgrading.

I needed to recover the SMS database from previous backup. It was from ipsw version 3.1. Later on I downgraded back to 3.0.1 where I tried to import the db. Couldn't achieve the result I wished for.

You have to have a jailbroken iphone to view or edit the root partion, it is quite simple to jailbreak by simply using the quick pwn application that you can down load from the iphone dev team blog website, google it.

my itunes says there is a backup form dec 27th, which has all my contacts, but with this app to extract it shows a dec 31st one, one i fucked up and lost lal my contact on.

I just did a quick check on the DiskAid's developer site and it does mention:

"To access to the entire filesystem of you device, you need a jailbroken device. If not, only "DiskAid Folder" and "Media Folder" are available."

You do need a jailbroken phone to access the Root Folder with DiskAid.

my 2.0 2G iphone has just crashed bcoz i installed the wrong version of mobile installaion
