Tutorial: How to Fix Installous Problems in iPhone 3.0

Update 2: Latest is Installous 3.1.10. This already includes all the programs I listed below including AppSync so you don’t have to install them separately. Make sure you’re on iPhone OS 3.0 and up. You may get some error messages during the installation of Installous but just ignore. If you have problems installing an app, try setting the Native Installation “ON” or “OFF” and install again.

Update: Try the new Installous 2.0.3 in Cydia before performing the fix below. I tried it and works great.


Many have reported problems downloading cracked apps from Installous after jailbreaking to iPhone 3.0 firmware–such as “unable to find executable”, “Script failed. Unable to decompress”, previously working apps no longer work, white icons, deleted apps, etc.

To fix these problems, you need to do the following:

In Cydia, upgrade all essential files when prompted.

Re-install the following files in Cydia (use the search function and if not found, add the Source first):

  1. Cydia Installer (Source: http://apt.saurik.com)
  2. Erica Utilities (Source: http://apt.modmyi.com)
  3. UUID Generator
  4. Darwin CC Tools
  5. unzip
  6. gawk
  7. Installous (Source: http://cydia.hackulo.us)

If you haven’t already installed an app on your iPhone from the Apple App Store (a free app will do), install one now.

Open Installous and Download an app. Install only after downloading. Check to make sure the app is working.

To sync cracked apps to iTunes, install AppSync for OS 3.0 from Cydia. Reboot.

Note: If after syncing to iTunes, your apps failed to transfer to your iPhone, unselect all applications in iTunes and sync. Then select all applications and sync again.

    I Install cydia with blackra1n!And then I try to find installer but its not there!Like I instull sosiphone but there no installer!

    I downloaded some apps from installous a few days ago and when i sync my ipod withmy itune it was still there, but today when i finish syncing my ipod, those apps somehow disappeared, any way i can fix that problem???

    I have the same problem as you did… goes all the way back to the “connect to iTunes” image after rebooting. I installed Cydia and AppSync 3.1, how do i fix this? where can one find the custom files?

    just type http://cydia.hackulo.us i had the same problum but type http://cydia.hackulo.us/ with a / at the end itwill work and no they cant catch u if u sync it

    go to settings then change to dirty method it worked for me!

    go to downloads. select the thing you downloaded. click install.

    Dirty method is when you open the installous app, go to settings then choose dirty method which is right next to clean.

    hi I use a 3gs 3.1.2 iphone and after jb it and install instullos the instullos doesn't install any thing with error message : download failed>>>>> Could not start saving file

    There's one way to get apps without that kind of problem.
    All you need is itunes , jailbroken ipod, and cable.

    1) Find the name of the game u want first.
    2) Go to google and search the name with ipa download at the back (ETC. ModernWarfare ipa download)
    3) Download it
    4) Open my computer, find the file.
    5) Open itunes.
    6) Drag the Downloaded app into itunes app section.
    7) After it's done loading the app into itunes, sync itunes with ur jailbroken ipod.

    My ipod was blackra1n jailbroken, version 3.1.2

    I can't install anything… I try and in the download screen it says “Download failed. Cannot start saving file.” I've downloaded the same apps on my husband's device and they worked just fine. How can I fix it? Do I have to restore the Ipod and re-do everything?

    i jailbreaked using spirit. have iphone 3gs 3.1.3, my problem is that i cannot install installous 3 it says posix broken pipe apt.saurik.com. i tried the above steps and now i cannot install appsync 3.1 or insatllous 3………….pls help? what do i do…..thx!

    Hi, I am having problems with installous. I have downloaded the apps and install correctly, however the app does not come up on the ipod. Its an itouch with 3.1.3 and its jailbroken. It worked at first with some apps now it doesn't. Help please anyone?

    Install the latest Installous version (as of today, it is 3.1.10). This already includes all the necessary programs so you don't have to download them again individually. Make sure you're on iPhone firmware 3.0 and up.

    Select your device (iPhone) in iTunes, go to the Apps tab, and unselect all the apps. Click Sync. Do the same process and this time select all apps in the Apps tab and sync again.

    Some apps from apptrackr don't work right. Try and download another one submitted by another user in apptrackr.

    Install latest Installous (3.1.10). If you can install some apps in apptrackr and not others, its a problem with the app. Try and download from another user in apptrackr.

    Keep trying and install the latest Installous available on Cydia. It already includes AppSync and all the other programs listed above, so no need for a separate install.

    For all those people who trying to install new apps from interllous and the bloody app image does not appear on the switchboard……DO NOT exit interllous while the app is downloading, let it completly finish first, then install it. Otherwise if you exit, the download will stop and it appears as if the download is complete….if you try and install an app that is only half downloaded, no app image will appear…..even if it says “installing” coz it wont.

    What is this “dirty” option. When I open Installous settings there is no option that says clean or dirty.

    most likely your jailbreak is tethered, so just plug your iPhone into your computer, and do the jailbreak again
