Tutorial: How to Fix Installous Problems in iPhone 3.0

Update: Try the new Installous 2.0.3 in Cydia before performing the fix below. I tried it and works great.

Many have reported problems downloading cracked apps from Installous after jailbreaking to iPhone 3.0 firmware–such as “unable to find executable”, “Script failed. Unable to decompress”, previously working apps no longer work, white icons, deleted apps, etc.

To fix these problems, you need to do the following:

In Cydia, upgrade all essential files when prompted.

Re-install the following files in Cydia (use the search function and if not found, add the Source first):

Cydia Installer (Source: http://apt.saurik.com)
Erica Utilities (Source: http://apt.modmyi.com)
UUID Generator
Darwin CC Tools
unzip
gawk
Installous (Source: http://cydia.hackulo.us)

If you haven’t already installed an app on your iPhone from the Apple App Store (a free app will do), install one now.

Open Installous and Download an app. Install only after downloading. Check to make sure the app is working.

To sync cracked apps to iTunes, install AppSync for OS 3.0 from Cydia. Reboot.

Note: If after syncing to iTunes, your apps failed to transfer to your iPhone, unselect all applications in iTunes and sync. Then select all applications and sync again.

No idea on when this is going to be fixed. The problem is the apt.modmyi.com repository, which contains latest package of Erica (http://apt.modmyi.com/2debs/). I guess some maintainer replaced by mistake "ericautilities0.17.deb" with a php file. Somebody should should mail and tell them, this his their website: http://modmyi.com/

Cant get istallous istalled. i got error 'size mismatch ' using ipt2g 3.12 firmware. Try re-installed all 7 apps mentioned. Stuck at Erica utilities with size mismatch error..

Erica doesn't install, the latest package is broken in the repository. Installous won't install without Erica, nothing to do until they repair the Erica package in the repo.

i tried installing installous and adding the source back again but i get this message that i cant download or add it coz its a legacy thing. i typed in http://cydia.hackulo.us and i still get the same message. coz at first i open my installous and i get this message "bad gateway" thing and i reinstall installous in cydia but i still get the same message "bad gateway" so i followed your instructions above and i cant find or add hackulo anymore. can you help me bring back installous to my iphone? thanks

Ok I got to step 3, I re-installed UUID Generator, then all of the sudden, all of my sources are gone, there is nothing in the manage packages tab.... what the hell happend? And it wont even load the cydia home screen it just says "Unable to Load (timed out)." This is really weird because when I go to winterBoard everything is still there but now I have no way of managing them... what do I do? please help

Ok,
Please have an answer for me. I have jail broken and cracked many iphone 3g's, and now a friend wants me to do his ipod touch 2g. For his ipod touch I have used quickfreedom and all is well.
Installous has been installed and I can download apps. They are not showing up (no icons on home screen).

Now I want to say I have tried all the ideas on here (i think).

I have restored and re-jail broken.
I have reloaded all of the above mentioned programs.
I have turned on dirty mode.
In clean mode I am getting "unable to find executable"
In Dirty mode it is following through to the end of the installation bar but then no icon shows up at all.

WHAT AM I MISSING

Been at this for two days reading everything I can. Sorry if I missed something but I just cant figure what step I am missing.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

First thing is that I had already installed some applications from cydia like the video recorder.

i reinstalled everything like i was instructed to.

but i tend to have the same problem, i try to download an application from appulous and it works but when i go to install it, it doesn't finish the install it probably finishes around 10% at most and then takes me back to my home screen.

If anyone is still reading this thread, another problem might be that installous is hidden (or apps that you have downloaded). Install SBSettings from Cydia to fix the problem, the app helps you hide and unhide apps.

I want to remove junk out of my Cydia Packages, but i dont want to remove important files like Required files or any Installous files.

Do you know which files your not supposed to delete in Cydia or it wont work?

Ok so I have installed Installous. Installed BeejavIM and other games and they all get my springboard to crash.

Is there a fix to this ? none of the apps seem to work at all.

THIS GETS APPS INTO ITUNES!

Since the files (apps) aren't in iTunes after you download them from Installous, all you have to do is get them there. Now, of course there are many complicated routes to doing this, using SSH and manually transferring each app, downloading the apps directly onto both your computer and your phone, etc... But the best and easiest way I've found to do it is built right into iTunes. Simply right click on your iPhone/ iPod Touch and hit "Transfer Purchases". The Installous apps show up as purchased, and therefore transfer directly into your application library. Then you can select/ deselect them in the iPhone/ iPod Touch applications sync tab and from now on they're as good as a legally purchased app as far as iTunes and Apple are concerned.

Hope that helps someone out there.

intsallous http/1.1 404 not found solved.

I was using htto:\\crackulo.us as a source then trying to install installous.
i removed the source then added http:\\cydia.crackulo.us and in all worked smoothly no errors!! Hope this helps.

"APPSYNC' on cydia to be able to download cracked apps...

AppSync isn't necessary for Installous to work. You only need it to sync your cracked apps to iTunes.

I NEED HELP!!!
Ok earlier today I downloaded the source http://cydia.hackulo.us and it worked and i also downloaded the appsource 3.o or whatever. The installous was working fine and everything but when I tried to open up the installous app later on the browsing section was blank white and unresponsive so i thought i would delete the app then just re add it. Whe i went back to Cydia to install installous it was failing to load and it was missing sources. I tried to re add the source http://cydia.hackulo.us but it wouldnt accept the source as an app. I'm sure I copied it down correctly and retried many times but it keeps saying

"Did not find depsitory. The indicated repository could not be found. This could be because you are trying to ad a legacy installer repository(these are not supported). Also, this interface is only capable of working with exact repository URLs. If you host a repository and are havingissues please contact the author of Cydia with any questions you have."

Looks like not all package dependencies were installed. If following the steps in this tutorial fails to solve your problem, you may need to do a restore. Do not install anything in Cydia first until you get Installous working.

Try to do a restore by following the steps I outlined to Gilo above. Do not install anything in Cydia yet until you make sure your iPhone is properly jailbroken.

Ok so everytime i installed an app off of installous it would never work. it would say it was unable to install. HOW I FIXED IT: 1. go to settings on installous then switch the install method to DIRTY not clean. 2. after that it would install fine except the app would never appear...somehow it was invisible so i went on to cydia and downloaded "AppSync for OS 3.0" and i went back to the home screen or "springboard" and it would somehow appear

Slap me for carping about my problem before following all the steps. Follow menoob's tutorial exactly, make sure you have everything installed, and then try downloading installous. No more 404 error message, downloads and installs just fine.

i dunno what went wrong.
on one 1 phone all I selected INSTALL CYDIA and UNLOCK option...(both)
and after completion there was only one icon on the iphone which was CYDIA. no other icon wot so ever. On second Iphone ive tried everything which u have said but still I cant install anything fron INSTALOUS.

Dirty method is when you open the installous app, go to settings then choose dirty method which is right next to clean.

I have the same problem as you did... goes all the way back to the "connect to iTunes" image after rebooting. I installed Cydia and AppSync 3.1, how do i fix this? where can one find the custom files?

Yes, I think some programs in Cydia can cause problems with Installous. I'm glad you got it working.

@Gilo and 5hadz,

If doing the above fails to work, I suggest you do a restore of your custom firmware.

1) Turn off your iPhone and unplug it from your computer.
2) While holding the Home button, plug in the cable.
3) Still holding the Home button, wait for iTunes to open.

That should put you in recovery mode. Then hold alt/option key and click Restore. Install your Custom .ipsw file.

After setting up a new iPhone or restoring from a backup, perform again this tutorial. Do not install anything else from Cydia other than those mentioned. If that works, then you can go ahead and install other apps you like.

After updating all the components which Cydia offers me, my iPhone does a complete restart - not only springboard restart - but does not restart, it sticks with the boot logo. Been waiting not for some time but nothing happens, seems that i have to restore it again....

Did you install miPatch instead of AppSync?

The same thing happened to me. I manually remove the mobileinstallation and replaced it with a original one.

Booted perfectly after that.

AppSync is for 3.0

miPatch is for 2.x
